Our management

Matthias Karger

Founder & CEO

As managing director, Matthias takes care of all commercial issues, such as finances, strategy and personnel.

For Matthias, node.energy is the second start-up in the energy sector: in 2010, he founded TeraJoule Energy GmbH, which later became Clean Energy Sourcing AG (CLENS). At CLENS, he was responsible for setting up and operating one of Germany's first virtual power plants with an output of over 500 megawatts until 2013.

Afterwards he was also responsible for business development for the entire group and was managing director of two subsidiaries with a turnover of over 150 million euros p.a. (direct marketing of EEG systems and software services for virtual power plants).
After selling his shares at the end of 2015, Matthias left the company in August 2016 and founded node.energy GmbH.

Matthias is a business graduate and completed his studies at the University of Cologne, the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB).

Lars Manuel Rinn

Founder & CTO

As co-founder and CTO, Lars is responsible for coordinating technical product development. He also works on the source code almost every day.

Before founding node.energy, Lars learned how to combine IT and the energy industry at Clean Energy Sourcing AG and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems. Lars studied Mechanical Engineering (B.Sc.) and Energy Science and Engineering (M.Sc.) at TU Darmstadt and the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

Michael Blichmann

CSO

As managing director of node.energy, Michael takes care of all sales issues.

Michael comes to node.energy as an energy expert: after studying business administration, Michael spent 24 years with Mannheim energy supplier MVV Energie AG with various commercial functions and helped build up the energy services business.
From April 2010 to September 2011, he was responsible for sales and finance in the Kofler Energies Group as division manager.
From October 2011 to January 2017, as managing director of Bosch Energy and Building Solutions GmbH in Stuttgart, he built up the entire energy service company. From February 2017 to December 2019, he was responsible as managing director of Kübler HeizWerk GmbH and carried out the rental business there.

Regine Böhm-Gams

VP Product

Since September 2024, Regine has been serving as Vice President of Product at node.energy. Her commitment ensures that the transition to renewable energy and its management is made seamless and intuitive for our customers.

Regine has extensive experience in product management for cloud-based B2B and B2G business networks and marketplace solutions. Under her leadership, the product teams work with high focus and determination on intelligent software-as-a-service solutions.

Before joining node.energy in September 2024, she was responsible for product management and marketing of digital, automated procure-to-pay and order-to-cash solutions for hospitals and their suppliers at GHX Europe. From 2017 to 2021, Regine built and successfully scaled the BUY (eProcurement and Marketplaces) business line for international corporations as VP of Product Management at Tradeshift.

Prior to that, she led teams for professional services and product development at Capgemini Business Services, IBX Group AB, trimondo GmbH, and Lufthansa AirPlus Servicekarten GmbH. Regine holds a degree in physics from TU Darmstadt.

Robert Petzold

VP Finance

Robert ist VP Finance bei node.energy und sorgt dafür, dass das Unternehmen effizient arbeitet und seine finanziellen Verpflichtungen erfüllt.

Robert trat dem Unternehmen im Jahr 2024 bei und bringt umfassende Erfahrung im Aufbau und der Skalierung von Finanzorganisationen mit. Vor node.energy leitete Robert das globale Finanzteam bei Forto und begleitete das Unternehmen vom frühen Stadium bis hin zu erheblichem Wachstum.

Zuvor war er im Investment Banking und der Restrukturierung bei Unternehmen wie Kuna & Co., Ziems & Partner und PwC tätig, wo er sich auf M&A-Deals und komplexe Restrukturierungsprojekte konzentrierte. Robert hat Abschlüsse in Finanzwesen und Wirtschaft von der Universität Münster und der IE University. In seiner Freizeit ist er leidenschaftlicher Freitaucher und findet Ruhe und Inspiration in den Tiefen des Ozeans.

Lucia Rupp

Product Manager Commercial Asset Management Cockpit

Together with her product team, Lucia ensures that asset managers of renewable energy plants have access to software with opti.node that simplifies their recurring work and thus drives the expansion of their sustainable business models.

Lucia has been passionate about evaluating the economic, technical and regulatory aspects of renewable energy business models since 2017. At node.energy, with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that arise in the dynamic world of renewable energy, she is committed to developing innovative solutions that not only save time but also increase the efficiency and productivity of our customers. Lucia completed her master's degree in renewable energy and energy efficiency at the University of Kassel.

Marcel Kraft

Product Manager solar tenant supply

As an experienced specialist in decentralized energy concepts, Marcel ensures that our software and services match the needs of our customers.

With his broad expertise, Marcel is a sought-after speaker at conferences and meetings and author of several specialist energy publications. Before joining node.energy, Marcel was involved in setting up the Clean Energy Sourcing AG virtual power plant together with Matthias Karger from 2011 to 2013. As a product and sales manager, he was then responsible for the growth of CLENS' virtual power plant and direct marketing portfolio. Marcel studied energy economics at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.

Philipp Petruschke

Product Manager PPA

Together with the PPA team, Philipp ensures that electricity from renewable energy sources can flow directly to industrial consumers.

Philipp is an energy industry and business development specialist with a strong start-up background. He is particularly passionate about renewable energy and building a sustainable energy supply. For around eight years, he has worked on it in various functions, including as a business developer for Statkraft. Philipp has dip. -Host. -Studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen.

Therese Klarner

Product Manager Data Platform

At node.energy, providing energy data is a core competence. Together with the platform team and in close coordination with our market partners, Therese is working to ensure that the required energy data finds its way to our customers. As automated and reliable as possible.

Therese is an experienced product manager with a deep understanding of the energy industry and a mathematical background. Since joining the energy industry at Fraunhofer IOSB-AST in 2014, she has gained valuable experience in modeling and analyzing energy systems. During her almost 4 years as a product manager for the district energy management solution at Ampeers Energy GmbH, she has shown that she is passionate about promoting sustainable energy supply solutions, integrating heterogeneous interfaces and building a SaaS product from the ground up.

Barbara Zeppenfeld

Head of Customer Success

Barbara and her team work together to ensure a smooth introduction to our opti.node software for our newly acquired customers and provide them with advice and assistance in their daily work.

Barbara has been serving various clients throughout her professional life. Most recently, she worked in a digital start-up in the media industry, where she was able to gain a lot of experience onboarding customers and subsequent support during operational work with the software.

Switching to node.energy and thus to another industry was a very conscious step for Barbara. In doing so, she wants to make her contribution to the energy revolution and make it as easy as possible for node.energy customers.

Benoit Batailler

Agile Coach

Benoît accompanies our teams as an agile coach and ensures efficient, competent and human collaboration.

Benoît has worked in the international automotive sector for 10 years and knows both the side of an OEM and a supplier very well. There, he was responsible for ensuring quality and reliability in various design and process projects. In 2018, he moved to the IT & startup industry and has since wanted to drive the green energy revolution forward with his diverse range of methods and extensive wealth of agile experience. He now accompanies us through our Scrum sprints, ensures successful OKR planning and implementation and ensures that the content of our team events is a complete success. Benoît studied mechanical engineering and philosophy in Compiègne.

Jörg Wiemers

Head of Engineering

Jörg ensures that the highest product quality is always achieved thanks to the right software architecture.

Jörg is an absolute professional in software development. He has over 15 years of experience and has already tackled many complex development projects. Among other things, before joining node.energy, he was responsible for the continuous integration infrastructure for SAP HANA. Jörg Dip studied. -Information technology engineer.

Maria Imhof

Head of Accounting

As Head of Accounting, Maria ensures transparency in financial figures and thus creates a reliable basis for management decision-making.

In 2016, Maria completed her studies at DHBW Mosbach in the subject of Business Taxation, Corporate Accounting and Finance. She then worked as a team leader at a tax office in Würzburg until February 2022 for advising, preparing tax returns and annual financial statements and financial accounting for numerous clients.

Maria has been responsible for Finance — Accounting for us since March 2022. Maria also successfully completed the tax advisor exam in March 2022 and is therefore well prepared for emerging tax issues.

Maria Werner

Head of People & Organization

Maria is responsible for all personnel management at node.energy and is therefore the central point of contact for applicants and our employees.

Maria completed her master's degree in business psychology (M. Sc.) and led the digital division of a media company for several years, including as a member of the management board. She then moved to a Freiburg start-up in the energy sector as Head of HR and has now been strengthening our management team since December 2021. She is particularly interested in the selection of suitable new colleagues who are a good fit for the existing teams, as well as the development of each individual's personal skills. Marvin Dudek

Head of Sales

As Head of Sales, Marvin Dudek heads sales at node.energy and is an expert on energy issues.

While studying for an M.Sc. in Energy Science and Engineering at TU Darmstadt, he developed artificial intelligence for the smart control of energy systems and held several positions in energy consulting. Marvin is a first-time employee at node.energy and has helped build the company from the start.

Simon Reiser

Head of Marketing

Simon is a full-hearted digital marketing professional. His mission: With high-quality content, targeted interested parties to implement business models in the renewable energy world.

He has gained around 10 years of experience in online marketing on the corporate and agency side. Simon completed his literary studies in Freiburg with a doctorate.

Ulrike Veh

Head of Controlling

Ulrike has 13 years of diverse and international experience in finance and controlling.

Before joining us, she headed the finance and controlling department, was a member of the management board and gained experience as interim CFO and project manager. She is full of energy and wants to link the finance figures with the most important business figures in order to enable the best possible management of node.energy.

Ulrike has a degree in business administration and studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Worms and the Universidad de San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) in Lima.
